The paradoxes of time: art, literature and science in a (not) right context

On April 15 and 16, 2023, the School of Arts and Cultural Heritage will host the conference “Paradoxes of Time: Art, Literature and Science in the (Not) Right Context”

The study of context is an integral part of art history and philological research, but it is not always possible to find a perfect synchrony between the object under study and the “spirit of the times” in which it is created. Epochs of crisis, eras of political, social, ideological or institutional transformations and, on the contrary, periods of stagnation and stagnation present challenges to participants in the artistic process, to which each of them responds in their own way. At the upcoming conference, we plan to address those individuals, works and institutions that are in paradoxical relations with the reality around them, and to identify the conflicts in which they exist.
