The “Our Avant-Garde” museum project at the Russian Museum has already become an important historical milestone in the history of research and representation of the Russian avant-garde. The discussion of the exhibition is particularly relevant in view of the fact that it should later become the basis for the permanent exhibition of avant-garde art at the Russian Museum. This exhibition is directly related to Nikolai Punin's 1927 exhibition at the Russian Museum, which is both a tribute to an outstanding Russian art historian and a development of his ideas. It is planned to discuss the whole idea of the project, the concept of the exhibition, its information support, architecture and design.
There is an obvious need for a serious professional conversation in a broad cultural and historical context, taking into account the ideas and possibilities of exhibiting the Russian avant-garde, using the example of the activities of other state and non-state museums in Russia and around the world.
The discussion will be attended by the exhibition's curators and researchers at the Russian Museum — Irina Karasik, Natalya Kozyreva, Alisa Lyubimova, Veronika Abashina, Alexander Kibasov, teachers and students of the School of Arts and Cultural Heritage of the European University and everyone interested.
